Covid-19: Omicron Variant and new advice from Music Mark

Updated: Dec 9, 2021

The DfE has sent a message to all schools informing them to reassess their Covid risk assessments regarding the Omicron variant and the new advice.

Related to this, we have been receiving various emails from colleagues concerning the running of Christmas events and music provision. To support everyone with any conversations that may be arising in school, we have attached the very latest Music Mark 'Music Unlocked' guidance for music activity and provision in schools.

You will be able to see that music activities/provision can take place as normal (as per pre-March 2020) as there is no guidance from the DfE to state otherwise. The key message is that we ensure all essential mitigations are in place; ventilation, distancing, masks, not sharing blown instruments, hand hygiene and minimising the handling of materials/furniture.

We would also recomment asking audience members to wear face masks.

We hope that this information helps with supporting your own programme of events and music provision. Please do let us know if we can help you further
